Do You Need a Mentor or Coach

Do you find yourself wonder if you should find a mentor or coach to get your affiliate marketing business going strong?

Most of the information on mentoring or coaching I find on the internet seems like a lot of hype.

How do I find someone that will actually benefit me and not only their pocketbook. Its not easy.

Not only that, if you find a mentor or coach that has all the what to do recommendations and very little how to it, you could still be stuck on first base wondering how do I do this next step?

Maybe we should have started with what is a mentor or coach and who is a mentor or coach.

Actually we often think of mentors and coaches as being similar in what the do. Although there are many similarities between the two there are some important differences. Both mentors and coaches can help you, but, not in the same way. What I mean there is that a mentor is usually best used when starting from scratch or moving to the nest level. A coach would probably be best used when fine tunning an operation or maybe moving to the next level.

Much has been said about having goals. We talking here primarily about goals for you internet marketing business. Goals are of great value at home or at work. There seems to be great value of listing your goals and the periodically reviewing them.

Working with a mentor or coach you will normally agree on the goals you have set for your business and share some thoughts on how to accomplish them. Perhaps the greatest value of having a mentor or coach is that they will review your goals often with you and hold you accountable for them.

Being held accountable for your goals takes the goal off a wish list and places it on  to do list or I’m going to do this list. Goal setters that accomplish large numbers of the goals they set, attribute being held accountable as the motivating or driving force enabling them to accomplish their goals.

You would think someone like Tiger Woods of golf renown could writ the book on playing golf. Maybe he has or can. He still uses a coach. It would be difficult to find someone with greater knowledge or skills when it comes to the game of golf than Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods uses a coach to keep on top of his game. He has someone to advise him if he is starting to wonder from the proven approach to the game he uses.

Many people use coaches to fine tune what they do. A pastor of a large church I am aware of uses a coach or more of a coaching clinic to maximize his delivery. I was surprised when I found out he was using a coach. Anyone developing their speaking skills could learn a lot just by studying his techniques.

If your business is at a point that a coach would  be beneficial, proceed carefully. Having a good sales letter loaded with testimonials does not  always equate to a beneficial relationship. I do not want to  imply that there are not any  or many qualified coaches on the internet, because there are many. Just be a little persnickety.

One of the things to do that I recommend is ask for recommendations in the forms you frequent.  Use at least 2 forms to solicit recommendations. Three would be better. When you names on your list, search the internet for comments about this individual or company. Find out more about how they can fulfill your needs.

If your affiliate marketing business is fledging a qualified mentor can be an invaluable resource. A search on Google will list more mentors than you really want to know about.  Again I would go to the forms for recommendations. Spend some time searching for a mentor that will benefit you most. You may find some free or very low cost mentors. You will find some mentors and programs that cost thousands of dollars. Is free or low cost bad and high priced good? Not necessarily.  Remember as I stated earlier that, not only do you want to know what to do, you want to know how to do it.

The important thing to learn is this: finding a mentor for your affiliate marketing business can be very beneficial. It can also be costly. If your goal is to find a mentor take your time and be thorough. Do your due diligence.
