Choosing an Affiliate Marketing Programme

Choosing an affiliate marketing programme is perplexing for most affiliate marketers. There seems to be an almost endless list of affiliate programs to choose from. This list however is not in one place. It requires some searching and some perseverance to find the right one for you. Most of the time when we think about affiliate programmes we think about digital products with high commissions and instant downloads. There is a whole other of affiliates out there. To name a few there are affiliate marketing programmes for men’s shoes, ladies shoes, camping gear, car parts, books, bank cards, pharmaceutical supplies, health products and the list continues.

Digital affiliate marketing programmes is the most popular for many reasons. It is not uncommon to receive up to 50% commission. Product delivery is very quick and often takes just a mouse click or two . There no products to stock unless you consider that having them on your hard drive is stocking. Usually the affiliate programme company has support material such as articles, sample ads and banners available to promote their product. The vender is also responsible for product support, relieving you of that burden.

Another benefit of marketing digital products is that several popular products are listed on marketing websites such as Clickbank, Associated Programs, Commission Junction and other sites. Is it convenient to be able to choose from several programs on one site. Information regarding the product popularity, cost, and commission structure are available. Additional benefits include help in resolving problems should they occur. Also, vendors on these sites have demonstrated that they honest and reliable source of affiliate marketing programmes.

Keep in mind that the above sites are not the only source of affiliate marketing programmes. To find more programs do a search using your favorite search engine. As an example, search for “bank cards + affiliate” without the quotation marks. After you decide on one or more programs be sure and search the web using their product and/or Company name to uncover any possible problems concerning there product or vendor administration.

Affiliate marketing programmes for physical products have their own challenges and rewards. The largest challenge is delivery and/or returns. Returns are a concern as an item can be returned for any reason. Maybe someone just wanted to look at it. Physical products can range from books and CD’s to recreational vehicles. Physical products can be found using your favorite search engine and searching for “camping gear+affiliate”.Generally the physical product cost is often much greater than with a digital product and the commission structure much less. The rewards can be repeat sales especially if you are marketing a consumable product some of the higher priced products can benefit your cash flow.

Amazon is an example of a physical product distributed in part by affiliate marketing. Amazon has an affiliate marketing programme that puts anchor text links on your web site or blog that is linked to a physical product. Amazon delivers a quality product and marketers feel confident that they will do as they say.

How to Redirect a Link

Do you refer website visitors to a page called www.boatsgalore/woodenboats/oarstomatch . URL’s of that length or longer are sometimes broken in advertisements and emails. You may have an affiliate link www.discountboatprices/yourname. . This link is easily altered. Someone could replace yourname with therename and take you out to he picture Or the yourname suffix could be removed and any business conducted would be between the company and not you. You can easily redirect a link.

Problems like those above can be addressed in a number of ways. One of the simplest and quickest way is to use an online link cloaking service. TinyURLDOTcom has been a popular link shrinker for a few years. BudUrlDOTcom is also available. Bud URL also has a click tracking service. Customized links are available from both sites. TinyURLDOTcom/custom. There are more link shrinker sites available.

( be sure and put a period in place of DOT),

While link shrinker sites give you a very quick and painless redirect, consider that those redirects remain working only as long as that particular stays online. The redirect sites could also change their policy and possible charge for redirects or direct their business in other directions. I am not saying any of the above would happen, but, it could. All your promotions with that shrunk URL in it is now no longer a working link.

Another way to redirect a link that has been popular with webmasters savvy with html is the HTML redirect. Some times this is referred to as META refresh. Here is the code:

<1DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-w3c//DTD 4.0 Transitional//EN”>

<html>

<head>

<title>yourpage</title>

<meta http-equiv+”REFRESH> content+”0;url+http://www.the-domain-you-want-to-redirect-toDOTcom”></HEAD>

<BODY>

Optional page text here.

</BODY>

</HTML>

The part that does the redirecting is <meta http-equiv+”REFRESH> content+”0;url+http://www.the-domain-you-want-to-redirect-toDOTcom”> (use a period in place of DOT)

The zero before the url is the number of seconds to wait before redirecting. This can be any number of seconds to your choosing.

Another popularway to redirect a link is the 301 redirect using .htaccess. . A .htacess redirect is recommended as it is convenient to manage as it can be used to redirect one page or an entire website. The code is added to the .htacess file.

I am going to direct you to a site that provides a lot of discussion and examples, www.tamingthebeastDOTnet/articles3/spiders-301-redirect.htm Replace the DOT in above url with a period.

Most web hosts can provide a redirect link. If you plan to stay with your web host this is another good way to provide a redirect.

The above listed ways to redirect a link are not the only ways to provide a redirect, but, these should take care of the needs of most of us. They all are useful. The website url services may not be a good choice for a long term cloak or redirect. Due to the ease of obtaining them, there use in a short term need is hard to beat. Especially the one with a click tacking service. The HTML redirect or the META refresh as it is sometimes referred to is still a good way to redirect. It is a little more involved that the .htacces or even the php redirect. The php redirect is another good way. For me anyway it involves a greater degree of difficulty.

The most popular way to redirect a link with webmasters seems to be the .htaccess redirect.

You May Have to Say No

You’ve got a million and one things to do, both professionally and personally. You may have to say no to some things.

Many of them feel urgent, even vital. But are they?

Of course NOT. And that’s why you need to prioritize your tasks, put them into a to do list (more on that in a later tip) and work through them in order.

If you don’t, you’ll end up going through your to do list in an inefficient way… perhaps doing work that only feels urgent (but really shouldn’t be that high on the priority list).

Let me give you a few examples…

Example #1: Will the world come to a screeching halt if you don’t make your bed today? Nope. And so you may consider that a lower priority as opposed to some of your professional activities like getting to work on time, answering emails from customers and so on.

Example #2: Your friend asks you to do something. It’s pretty urgent… to him. And somehow you feel like whatever is urgent to him is also urgent to you. But here’s the thing: You have your OWN urgent to do list. If you spend all your time helping others with their to do lists, you’ll never get yours done. And that means in many cases you’ll need to prioritize your work as more important than another’s work.

Basically, sometimes you just have to say “no” to other people.

You may feel guilty. They may deliberately try to make you feel guilty or otherwise manipulate you. But if you say “yes” to every request, you won’t have time to work on your own to-do lists.

Chances are, you will say yes to some people or to some specific requests. However, you need to prioritize these requests just as you prioritize your own to-do list. That is, make a list of people who you’re most likely to say yes to. And then prioritize requests as they come in.

Tip: If someone who’s not on your “priority list” makes a favor request, consider if the request advances your own to-do list or if there is a bartering opportunity available. If not, say no.

Most people find that it’s actually pretty easy to decide whether to say yes or no to a request. The problem comes down to actually saying no (because of the aforementioned guilt).

Here’s how to do it: Simply politely but firmly say, “No, I’m afraid I’m unable to help you.”

Don’t offer an explanation. If you do, the person will likely argue with your explanation. Don’t even open the door to debate. No matter what the other person says or how they push, just tell them no without explanation as to why you can’t help them.

Improve Web Page Ranking- The Many Ways to Improve

It is no secret that you cannot make money online if you are not driving traffic to your site. Improving your page ranking is a great way drive that traffic. Consider also that you want traffic that will have some interest in what you are doing or offering. Responding to an internet ad something like 10,000 visitors to your site for only a few dollars will not give you your desired results. If you actually receive that many hits, chances are they from a high school computers class.

In this article I will list several ways to help drive traffic to your site and improve your web page ranking. Since all of the ways are time consuming, you probably will not do all of them. Select the ones that work well for you. You might also select the ones you would like to work with and blend them in as you become proficient with the ones you started with.

Free or almost free resources

Article marketing. You can direct link to your site as well as receive a backlink when the article is published.

Forum marketing. Make a quality comment or post with your website in the signature.

Blogging. Link to your site by posting to a number of free blogs available.

Blog comments. Comment on other blogs in your niche for a backlink.

Video Marketing. Your video posted on a video site contains your website URL. Comment on related videos for a backlink.

Affiliates. If you have your own product enlist other marketers to market it.

Joint Ventures. Arrange with an other marketer to cross promote your products. This generally takes an email list of some size. This could also be done by exchanging ad space in your newsletters.

Social Sites. Many marketers use social sites to  improve web page ranking. Sites such a Myspace, Twitter, and Facebook are used by many to get there message out. Those sites require there own way of marketing. I would recommend obtaining an ebook or tutorial on each site to walk walk you through the procedures.

Social Bookmarking Sites. Bookmarking your articles with several bookmarking sites can drive traffic to your site. You also get your site URL on another site for a backlink. There are probably a hundred bookmarking sites available. There are also some free programs available to  help with the effort.

Paid Resources.

PPC. Pay per click advertising using Adwords or similar programs.

Ezine advertising. Purchase advertising in popular ezines.

Safelists. Send email ads to safelists.

Banner Exchanges. Purchase banner ad advertising.

Traffic Exchanges. You pay for the privilege of sending your ad to 50 to 100,000  email addresses. They also have banner marketing.

Seo. Search engine optimization. A large part of SEO is distributing key words in the article or blog title and include the keywords throughout the article. There are some differing opinions on just how this is done. SEO can either be a free process or paid.

All of the resources listed as either free or paid are often outsource. Most of the resources are quite time consuming. In addition there are people who through native talent or time spent doing it can do a better and faster job than most marketers. There comes a time when marketers decide to spend their time to  improve web page ranking or to developing strategies to further their business.

Basically, blogs are known to be journals. Think of it
as writing your day to day activities and experiences

absolutely write about anything in blogs. It can be
facts or you can also write fictional short stories.
Or, you can do a mix of both.

The great thing about blogging is that you absolutely

offending someone. Racial discrimination and other
hate messages is prohibited as well as pornographic

what they think about your blogs and they will also
recommend it to their family and friends as a good
read.

interesting and easy to read. Try catching people’s
attention on the very first sentence. Once you catch
their attention, they will become interested enough to
read the entire blog.

This is the secret to becoming famous in blogging and
gain a lot of loyal readers.

Try to update your blogging website on a daily basis.

If you really don’t have something to write about and
you have a normal, routine life, try adding a little
spice to it. You don’t actually need to lie but you
can always bend the truth behind your so called
escapades. Exaggerate a little and also add a little
humor.

You have to remember that readers don’t really want to
know about your day to day activities. They want
excitement. You don’t actually need to tell the
readers details about your daily life, but what you
need to do is get them to use their imagination.

These are some of the tips that you might want to
remember when writing blogs. With these tips, you can
be sure that your blogging website will bring you
fame.

Benefits of a Wordpress Blog

What might be the most notable benefit of Wordpress is the ability to work on a post offline, in a standalone interface. Most blog software applications require one to be logged onto the internet, and geared up ready to go to post to the blog, whereas Wordpress allows you to edit, build, and post a blog at anytime, without being connected to the internet.

Yet another benefit of Wordpress is its remarkable plugin library that allows for users to instantly add features, and functions to Wordpresses already impressive abilities. The plugin library for Wordpress is robust because of the popularity of the software, many programmers and designers have created plugins based on their particular needs.

When you add up all these elements you end up with a program that is fully capable of creating highly attractive blogs that encourage people to visit the sight and stay to read whatever is posted on it.

Concentrating on the benefits of a Wordpress blog can provide you with some great optimism for the future. The reason Wordpress is such powerful software is the combination of value, quality, and ease of use that is unparalleled in the blog software world. While some people prefer to use more basic blog software, they too can truly benefit from the power of Wordpress, and once they read about all the perks they too will be downloading the software for profit as well.

Another benefit of Wordpress is the ease of use, and advanced functionality of the software compared to some blog software applications. Wordpress functions code free if one needs to post in such a fashion with easy to use icons similar to what one would see in a word processing program. Having the ability to utilize a program like this allows people to create blogs that are as high tech, and complete as full blown websites.

When you add up all these elements you end up with a program that is fully capable of creating highly attractive blogs that encourage people to visit the sight and stay to read whatever is posted on it. If you ever wanted powerful blog software that was less template and more unique Wordpress is it.

3 Ways to Find Topics for Article Marketing

Ideas For Blogging Articles

You have written several articles and published them to article directories. You have posted two blog posts a week for several weeks. You need more articles and blog posts and you are out of ideas on what to write about. You have exhausted all the topic ideas you have been thinking about for a long time and now it seems like you just sit and stare at the word processor monitor waiting for an topic idea to show up. You plan to write several more articles so you need many ideas. Well coach, what do I do now.

I am going to suggest three thing to try to get those ideas flowing. These three things are all in front of you if you punch the right keys on your computer.

  1. Type in Amazon.com in the address bar of your browser. What makes Amazon.com so useful as a research tool for getting new ideas is their searchable database of books. There are thousands of great ideas lurking in there if you just know how to use it .Locate the search form and select books from the drop down menu. Type in your niche or blog specialty and search for books with that information in the title. Depending upon the results you could then search for your main keywords. Your search could have listed several hundred books on the subject. Look over the titles and write down as many ‘ideas’ as you find. Your should have a long list. Changing your search term from say ‘article marketing’ to ‘bum marketing’ will provide even more ideas. Look for the different subcategories of books written about the subject, identifying different themes, styles and types.

  1. Visit your favorite forums for your area of interest. Scan the forum post topics. The forum topic with a long thread of participation may provide you with a relevant article topic. A good thing about a forum topic with a long thread of comments is that a lot of your article topic research is contained in the post comments. I am not advocating plagiarizing the post content. Reading the comments and writing down notes is not plagiarizing. I find the form posts generally very interesting and educational. I usually end spending more time reading the forum posts and comments than I had planned. That takes away the time I wanted to do something else.

There are usually several forums in your area of interest. Searching several forums may not only provide more article ideas, but, could also furnish additional research material for your article. Besides, it is quite an education.

  1. Visit a popular article directory. Ezineartilces seems to be a very popular directory. There are other excellent article directories that can be found with an internet search. Article directories file the article in categories. Locate the your categories of interest and look over the more recent submissions. Check related categories for even more possible article topics. Remember, you don’t want to copy the article title. You want to borrow ideas. By viewing the titles of the articles submitted you can gain ideas of how to construct your article titles. By that I mean are the titles primarily “how to” , “5 ways”, “easy and fun way” etc.

The above three article topic idea generators are use by many article writers. They also provide topics that are or current interest. An article with a pulling subject line written on a topic of current interest will give you head start on marketing your article.

Choosing the Right Blogging Tools

In blogging, using the correct blog software tools can
help you manage the goings-on of your blog. When it
comes to publishing your blog content, there are two
kinds of blog software tools that you can use, such
as: the server-based tools and the client-based tools.
Both of them have their own advantages and
disadvantages and it is up to you to choose the one
that is right for your blog.

The Client-based Tools

One of the two blog software tools that you can choose
from is the client-based tools. These tools’ purpose
is to aid you with publishing your blog and they are
normally installed on your computer and also run from
there. Additionally, client-based tools are also
categorized as small blogs that are able to run from
your hard drive.

Client-based tools also have text editors that allow
you to perform word processing applications from your
own computer. Thus, a text blog editor enables you to
create and publish your own content at the comfort of
your own desktop.

Obviously, the first advantage of using client-based
tools, like the text editor, is convenience. Most
bloggers choose to publish their work with a desktop
tool rather than a Web browser, which entails logging
into the blog software’s control panel and accessing
the Web-based text editor.

Additionally, client-based tools can be managed either
locally or remotely. Such tools can allow you to
manage and edit your posts remotely. More so, the
content of your blog can also be managed locally by
saving drafts to a local computer. These can be very
beneficial to those with limited Internet connection
since accessing and managing the content of your blog
remotely and locally can be done without the need of
being connected to the Internet.

Lastly, you can manage multiple blogs through the use
of client-based tools. If by any chance you are
publishing more than one blog, it might be easier if
you consider using a blog editor. The blog editor can
be easily configured to manage all your blogs. You
only have to enter the same information that you use
to log in into your server tool combined with the
particular kind of server software you are using and
the blog editor can save that information in its
configuration.

The Server-based Tools

Another kind of blog software tool that you can choose
from is the server-based tools. There are two
varieties of such tools: blog hosting service provider
tools and server-based publishing tools.

The first variety is automatically provided by your
blog hosting service provider. Hosted blog software
tools are very easy to use and you do not have to
install any software or manage any configuration too
difficult to comprehend. These kinds of tools can help
you focus on publishing your content.

With the use of hosted software tools, you are also
provided with an assortment of design templates. These
can help you in choosing the desired layout that suits
your blog. More so, the layouts can be easily
customized, including the fonts, columns, colors, etc.

On the other hand, publishing tools you install on the
server has the advantage of giving you the level of
customization and control you need over the
configuration settings. Through the use of these kinds
of server-based tools, you can decide how much storage
space you allocate, extend the features of your blog
through plug-ins or add-ins and make custom layouts
and pages.

Use of Forums In Affiliate Marketing

Understanding and using forums in your internet marketing efforts is beneficial in several ways.

  1. Exposing your website URL in your signature to the search engine for back link credit.

  2. Posting your problems and receiving help from other forum users. Reading forms is an education.

  3. Reading forums provides timely topics for you article writing plus in the reply posts a lot of topic research is done for you.

  4. Form networking may come up with a JV partner.

Each forum seems to have its own peculiar way it operates. Peculiar here meaning their own distinct way of operating. Learn the rules before you start posting, you and your posts will be much better received. Forums have moderators that will delete or comment on your post if not done correctly. Posting comments that actually add to the discussion is the way to go. Of course asking for information in a sincere manner is also well received.

Not all forums provide back links to your site. Some of the popular forums have have a nofollow tag. Search engine spiders will not credit a back link to your site if they see a nofollow tag. Some popular forms were forced to go nofollow as some posters used very imaginative ways to link spam their posts. These forums still provide excellent information.

Using the search engines you will find forms on all topics can be found. Searching for affiliate marketing- forms will list many forums. Using that same procedure: keyword-forums might yield a form in your particular niche. One way to select a forum from a search engine list is to see how active it is. Does it have recent posts on several topics? Usually you will want more than one form to follow. You can find additional forums in the same manner or ask for recommendations on the forum you have selected. Remember posting relevant questions and answers keeps a

forum useful for everyone.

Not all information posted on forms is correct. Forum users have a wide level of experience. I am not suggesting there are those who will intentionally mislead anyone. Fortunately a lot of the forums are self policing and a more experienced commenter may post a correction.

Forums are in the category of net working or possible a social site. Networking because there many people involved that get your attention with the information they post and then pass out business cards in the form of their signature, Social because people are helping people. If you participate in a long thread of posts on the same topic you will end up with several backlinks.

As with any networking or social event it takes awhile to become known and if you will-accepted. You may even want to ease off you signature until you have made a few posts. Some forums actually require a number of forum posts before a signature link can be added. Establish yourself as an asset to the forum and you will enjoy your time spent on the forums.

Spend some time on your profile. Many forum viewers will view your profile from time to time so make it attractive. Be as personable as you can. It seem if we know a little bit about a person we become more comfortable interacting with them. Keep in mind that your web site URL is included in your profile resulting in another back link.

Do Your Keyword Research

One of the most important things you can do to make sure your articles do well is keyword research. Since people use keywords to search for information in the search engines like Google, you’ll want to target appropriate keywords if you wish to show up at the top of the results pages.

You can find relevant keywords in many different ways, but the easiest way is to use Google’s research tool.

You can find it at: http://adwords.google.com/select/keywordtoolexternal

Simply type in a keyword for your website and Google will give you many keyword ideas.

Example: If you’ve got a website about pet recipes, you would enter terms like “cooking pet food”, “homemade pet food”, “natural pet food’, “cook dog food”, etc.

Google also gives you the numbers that tell you how often people search for each term. That way you know the keywords you’re targeting are worth your efforts.

Another important piece of the puzzle is figuring out how much competition there is for each keyword. If you are targeting words that have too much competition it’s going to be harder for you to reach the top of the search engine results pages. Don’t worry about that happening, because it’s easy to figure out how much competition there is.

Simply go to Google and type in your keyword surrounded by quote marks. The results that pop up are the other sites that are specifically targeting that term.

Example: When I search for “Pet recipes” I see there are 66,600 webpages that are already listed for that term.

Now that you have these keywords you can use them to give you a basis for your articles. It’s easiest to choose one keyword per article and focus the topic around that keyword. Remember to put the same term in your title as well.
